1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts i learned that Plato explained that art was an act of treason and mistrusted poets because they often spoke of things they cant truly know about. Aristotle thought differently. In this video i also learned about the theory of aesthetic. in the presentation video on youtube i got a recent view of what people really think of art aesthetic and what their opinion was like about it.
2. Which philosopher's theroy on aesthetics do you feel is most important? Be sure to mention the philosphers name, era (time in history), and contribution to the aesthetic theory in your response.
I feel Joseph Addisons (1672-1719) 18th century theory of aesthetics is most important because he was the one who started the beginning of the modern aesthetic theory with the book "On the Pleasures of the Imagination".
3. What do you think about Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art? What was the most interesting fact you discovered from each speakers lecture?
Changeux view of aesthetics and art is bottom up processing of the visual image, emotion and feelings, aesthetics efficiency and access to consciousness
Ramachandran view of aesthetics and art is translated visual, cognitive, and cultural boundaries. art creates a stimulation
I enjoyed Ramachandrans presentation i thought it was much easier to understand. the most interesting thing i learned from his was art creates a stimulation.
4. How do the videos and article relate to the readings in the text?
they relate to the text because it is about the same information it is just you get a much broader understanding with the articles and videos. it basically sums up the text.
5. What is your opinion of the films and article? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics in your reading in the text?
i feel the films and articles provided a much broader explanation than the books did on these topics and made it simpler to understand what was talked about in the chapters.
