Module 13 & 14

  The Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop Art I learned that west coast pop art is based on WW2, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s culture. Many different concepts like comic books and things artist were interested in Tate Modern I learned that what goes into making an art exhibit to make it appealing to others An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and The Metropolitan I learned that knowledge is what makes the museum work. curators sell their works to get them displayed  Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? Step 1: The Exhibition Questions about the exhibit: 1. What is the title of the exhibit? Jonathan Rodgers: Complexity of life 2. What is the theme of the exhibition? the theme of his exhibit is his view on a story of life and biblical worship of a protective god. Step 2: The Gallery Questions about the physical space: 1. What type of lighting is used? low/ dim lighting was used at his exhibit 2. What colors are used on the walls? color of the walls seemed navy blue with the lighting but after looking at my images the walls looked grey 3. The Mystical North: Spanish Art from the 19th  Century to the Present people in north spain dont speak the same language but have some of the best modern art. picassos art still has the same feeling today as it did when it first was made Matisse and Picasso   picasso was basically forced to paint because he was unable to leave his home. matisse was read a book by a nurse every night to help fall asleep. his nurse or like a helper opened a window for him to help him to commit suicide but he never jumped 2. My mask was inspired by Corey Taylor's mask he wears performing with his band Slipknot i like this mask its an iconic symbol Also my mask was inspired by the Pigs head that was used during the Saw franchise when i first saw this mask while watching the movie i was like that's a little creepy  Lastly my mask was inspired by the mask Michael Myers used when he was breaking out from his sanitarium. this mask is alot like mine. it was put together with limited materials. I used these pictures because they were the first thing that came to my mind when i was thinking on how to make my mask and also because its around Halloween time so like i had to do something related.  Here is the process from making my mask. its hard to see but i put fishing line so you are able to wear the mask so it is 3D. Hinduism: to western eye Hinduism seems exotic, Varanasi is holiest hinduism city-3,000 yrs old, ganges river, a devout hindu cant touch a dead body African Art: Legacy of Oppression: Congo region has more than 250 cultures, live africans were put on exhibit  2.
