Module 10

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose these videos because i wanted to find out more about these cultures 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Hinduism: to western eye Hinduism seems exotic, Varanasi is holiest hinduism city-3,000 yrs old, ganges river, a devout hindu cant touch a dead body African Art: Legacy of Oppression: Congo region has more than 250 cultures, live africans were put on exhibit  2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? Provide a different point of view on what was learned in the book 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? I enjoyed these videos they provided a view on art in different cultures

1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing? it was different and it kind of felt weird looking at my hand and drawing it. 2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why? i used pencil because its what i had in my book bag 3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand? it felt like i was using my non dominate hand to draw my other and that i was looking at 4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies? I have found that my left hand is more dominate than my right hand 5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork in the future? Absolutely not, i would even feel bad for the people who had to look at it.

For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Velazquez: Exclusive painter for King Phillip IV and his family. took things at a slow pace. many of his best pieces took a lifetime Durer: powerful influence on Europe for 57 years. Greatest artist of the northern renaissance. influenced by father 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? they go more in depth of what the book explains. the videos give a visual view of what is provided in the book 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? I feel the videos provided me with crucial information to have a better understanding of what i read in the book

Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above. well i choose these videos because the first one i had to choose and then the second one i chose because it peaked my interest as a viewer. 2. How Art Made The World 1 - More Human Than Human: Venus Von Willendorf is worth 60 mill at the time of this production. started to make art around 80,000 years ago. you get lost in time with Egyptian history Cairo Museum: holds the most fascinating ancient artifacts. 160,000 artifacts and half are on display. opened in 1902 3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? videos and book show how different cultures can have different meanings of art 4. What is your opinion of the films? Frank Gerhy: Unconventional architect, made his work with emotion, and influenced by technology Archetecture- The science of Design: when there is no space you go up, 2 distinct parts in  a skyscraper the superstructure and the sub structure. skyscrapers can sway a foot in high winds 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? i felt it was like reading the chapter again. it was very similar. 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture? i wish the videos were not so lengthy but i do enjoy them they add more of a better understanding than the book. 4. Module 6 Videos

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. In the quarry it is always 12 degrees Celsius . year round and the climate never changes. Limestone has a specific kind of smell and sound. Glass is made of sand. Blown glass goes through 3 heating stages. ceramics is made from clay which is a type of rock. 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? they go more in depth of what the book explains. the videos give a visual view of what is in the book 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft? i enjoyed these videos. they add depth on what the sculptors go through to carve. Also add a perspective how glass and ceramics are made and the different ways it is made.
